Growing kids need dairy to build healthy bodies.

Childhood is the biggest opportunity to build strong bones for life. That's why it's extremely important for growing kids to get enough calcium daily so their bones can grow properly. Surprisingly, calcium is the nutrient that Aussie kids most commonly miss out on, with more than half of 9-16 year olds not getting their recommended amount. But you can help them get the calcium they need by ensuring they get their 3 serves of calcium-rich dairy foods every day. A serve is as simple as a 250ml glass of milk, a 200g tub of yogurt or 2 slices (40g) of cheese.

Find out if your kids are getting enough calcium.

Dairy is packed with not only calcium but also a range of essential nutrients for bone health including protein, phosphorus, magnesium and zinc. Plus it contains other vitamins and minerals like potassium, vitamin A and B12 plus riboflavin – all nutrients kids need for healthy growth and development. So you can really see that dairy is a bone-building kids' best friend!

Breakfast is a great time to make sure that your kids get the calcium their body needs. To add a little extra dairy to their day try a glass of milk with their cereal, some yogurt on their fruit salad or sprinkle cheese on their baked beans.
